A Look at TrackSprints: SCCA Time Trials National Tour
The Tire Rack SCCA® Time Trials National Tour presented by Hagerty is making its way across the country, with two of eight events completed and a May 25-26 weekend on the horizon at Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, South Carolina. For only $250 per entry, participants get ample practice time on the 2.27-mile, 14-turn course, as well as a Time Attack both days, and TrackSprint on Sunday.
As many know, a Time Attack is where drivers have as much as 20 minutes to put down their fastest lap on a track. But what’s a TrackSprint? Well, our partners at Hagerty recently took a look at TrackSprint in an article written by Jack Baruth titled, “SCCA Time Trials are a go, but what’s that ‘TrackSprint’ about?” In the piece, Baruth equates TrackSprint to a high-speed autocross that uses part of a racetrack, and each driver gets only a handful of runs to set a fast time.
“For competitive autocrossers who are just getting their feet wet in time trials, the TrackSprints are an equalizer, a chance to use their adaptability and first-run-fast-run mindset to their advantage,” Baruth states in the article. “For experienced time-trialers, the TrackSprint adds challenge and variety to the event.”
Check out a video and read Baruth’s full article here. And be sure to register today for the May 25-26 event at Carolina Motorsports Park. Beyond on-track action, each Tire Rack SCCA® Time Trials National Tour presented by Hagerty weekend includes a Friday night welcome party, a Saturday night Hagerty Party, tons of comradery, and a KONI Podium Celebration to wrap up the whole weekend Sunday afternoon.
