Following a COVID-19 postponement earlier in the season, the Tire Rack Time Trials National Tour Powered by Hagerty has rescheduled its date at New Jersey Motorsports Park for October 17-18.
And the date change isn’t the only thing that has changed about the event. As it is now a standalone event, allowing up to 100 drivers the opportunity to come and battle their buddies for best time on the exciting 1.9-mile Lightning Raceway at NJMP.
The format has also been adjusted and will follow that of a typical SCCA Time Trails National Tour event schedule. During the two-day event, drivers will get two 20-minute practice sessions on Saturday morning, then vie for the best single lap in two 20-minute TimeAttack sessions in the afternoon. Following a good night’s sleep, competitors will step up for the TrackSprints, a point-to-point run setup like a hill climb using a dedicated portion of the track. Sunday afternoon drivers will once again be shooting for their best lap over two sessions, but with the switch to the “small group” model. For these sessions, the run groups are divided into two, and each driver will get have three flying laps per session – so it’s imperative to get it right!
Each competitor’s final score will come from the best time in the first pair of TimeAttack sessions, the best time in TrackSprint, and the best time from the second pair of TimeAttack sessions. The top three overall and in each class will stand on the KONI Podium and take home the trophies.
