Looking Forward: GingerMan Raceway

It’s the “hot dog!” days of summer for Tire Rack Time Trials National Tour Powered by Hagerty as the series bounds ahead with its exciting lineup of events in July. Next up is a trip to GingerMan Raceway, July 17-18, found in Michigan’s resort town of South Haven. The circuit has become a center for Time Trials activities in recent years. Plus, it’s located only about 12 minutes from the beach. So, you can get a little trackin’ done during the day, then hit the waters of Lake Michigan’s eastern shore for a beautiful sunset.

Celebrating GingerMan’s 25 Years

In 2021, GingerMan Raceway is celebrating its 25th anniversary. Established in 1995 and resurfaced in 2015, the facility rests on 350 acres of land that includes sprawling areas of shaded woods, plenty of paddock space and a pond fully stocked with fish.

The 2.14-mile, 11-turn course simulates a country road while maximizing driver and vehicle safety, making it what is considered to be one of the safest tracks in the nation. What results is a circuit perfectly suited for both the novice driver learning the ropes and the advanced driver who is pushing the threshold.

A full spectrum of driving situations can be experienced at GingerMan. There are high-speed straights and short sprints, long sweeping corners and tight apexes, heavy and light braking, and some dynamic elevation change along the natural, rolling landscape. If you want a better understanding of what GingerMan offers, check out the in-car video from Winding Road Racing below.

Lap Times to Look At

Time Trials National Tour has visited GingerMan Raceway a few times before. So that means we’ve got official SCCA Time Trials National Tour track records to keep an eye on during the two-day event. Some car class lap times to think about include:

Overall Record/Max 1 – Shilun Wu: 1:36.146
Sport 2 – Patrick LaMontagne: 1:42.422
Tuner 4 – John Hunter: 1:43.724
Unlimited 2 – Dallas Reed: 1:40.120

Back to Our Regularly Scheduled Program

One-of-a-kind TrackSprint sessions are back on the schedule Sunday morning for the Time Trials National Tour at GingerMan Raceway. But first, attendees will have two, full-course practice sessions Saturday morning and early afternoon, followed by two Time Attack sessions for all run groups before the Hagerty Social Dinner closes out the day.

Sunday afternoon includes two full-course Time Attack sessions for drivers, too, after the morning TrackSprint. Then the party comes to a close with the KONI Podium Celebration. A driver’s best lap time from Saturday afternoon, his or her best time from the TrackSprint, and the fastest lap from Sunday’s Time Attack all count towards scoring.

Sound like fun? Then it’s not too late to register today for the Time Trials National Tour at GingerMan Raceway!
