2021 In Review: Global Time Attack

2021 In Review: Global Time Attack

It’s been a year for the SCCA Pro Racing-sanctioned Global Time Attack. While things weren’t entirely back to normal in 2021, it was much closer to a typical schedule than 2020 could have ever imagined.

And it showed. The enthusiasm through the seven events on the scheduled showed. Fan walks were back. Formula Drift rejoined the event at Road Atlanta after missing the 2020 show. And the spectators came back in droves, with more than 540,000 views on the live streams at Super Lap Battle at COTA, Road Atlanta, and Buttonwillow.

In addition to the individual events, four drivers worked their way to the top of the 2021 Points Chase titles in each category. Those drivers?

Unlimited: Cable Rosenberg, Dodge Viper
Limited: Ray Guerrero, Zachery Sober Dodge Viper
Street: Amir Bentatou, Honda NSX
Enthusiast: Adam Wood, Subaru

Those were no easy accomplishment, either. The caliber of drivers and the caliber of cars in Global Time Attack continue to grow. How do we know this? The 22 track records set during the season are a pretty good clue. Who accomplished that feat (* indicates the record was set on Yokohama Tires, an official partner of Global Time Attack)?
