SCCA Pro Racing-sanctioned Global Time Attack (GTA) is a professional Time Trials series where drivers compete for fastest lap times in fully tuned, track-built, street-based vehicles. The innovative series has taken the motorsports world by storm; testing drivers, teams, and cars to their limits on a wide variety of dedicated circuits. With the singular goal of setting record lap times, GTA showcases advanced fabrication, tuning, and setup skills all aimed at creating the fastest cars possible.

With so much excitement anticipated for New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP), spectators will certainly not want to miss a moment of the on-track action. Plus, there will be a car show on Saturday, Aug. 6, where people can gander at glorious machinery.

For those who can’t make it to NJMP, you can still follow TTNT developments from afar on Saturday and Sunday at timetrials.scca.com with Gregg Ginsberg calling the competition via a live audio broadcast.

A Lightning Lap of NJMP

Resting on 500 acres adjacent to Millville Airport, NJMP has two distinct racing circuits. TTNT and GTA will be utilizing the venue’s Lightning Raceway for the upcoming event.

Lightning Raceway is a 10-turn, 1.9-mile circuit featuring dramatic corners and elevation changes. Check out the in-car video of the Lightning Raceway layout.

Lightning-Fast Records

It was 2020 when TTNT made its first and only stop so far to NJMP, and Lightning Raceway was the playground during that visit. That means TTNT lap records are already in the books for the circuit, and below are a couple notable lap times competitors will be aiming to beat during the upcoming trip to Millville.

Unlimited 1: John Gatzemeyer, 1:10.187 (2001 Chevrolet Corvette)
Sport 1: Cody Hunt, 1:10.618 (2017 Chevrolet Corvette)
Max 2: James Barry, 1:12.075 (2019 Subaru STI)
Tuner 2: Ancel Henry, 1:15.026 (2007 Ford Mustang)

Weekend Plans at NJMP

TTNT activities begin on the Saturday morning with practice sessions for all run groups, followed by TrackAttack sessions in the afternoon. GTA sessions are sprinkled throughout the morning and afternoon.

There will be no TrackSprint conducted at NJMP during this TTNT event. Instead, participants will have two more TrackAttack sessions on Sunday, Aug. 7, as GTA will also sport sessions on track throughout the day. Things then wrap up in the late afternoon with the KONI Podium Celebration.
