Time Trials National Tour Set To Visit Ozarks – Are You All In?

The Ozarks is a region filled with natural beauty, drawing millions of vacationers each year. The area also now draws motorsport fans thanks to the relatively new Ozarks International Raceway (OIR) in Gravois Mills, MO, which is set to host the next Tire Rack SCCA Time Trials National Tour Powered by Hagerty (TTNT) event.

July 14-16, 2023, is when TTNT will make its inaugural visit to OIR, which is only a little more than two hours south of Kansas City, or a three-hour drive from St. Louis. Interest in this event is high, so reserve an entry slot today.

The Story Begins

This will be TTNT’s first visit to OIR and its astounding 19-turn, 3.97-mile, state-of-the-art track located near a branch of the Lake of the Ozarks. The immense course can be separated into several different configurations, but it’s the behemoth layout with 1,200 feet of elevation change that’s being used for TTNT’s visit. Flowing across the natural lay of the land, circuit developers designed the facility to provide a fun place for performance driving enthusiasts in a park-like setting. Plus, facility garages offer tons of covered space, and the paddock boasts a prodigious amount of room for even the biggest of tow rigs.

Many TTNT participants may not be familiar with OIR’s layout. Get an idea of what to expect by watching the in-car video below recorded in 2022 during a Regional Time Trials event.

The circuit may seem daunting, which is why it’s best experienced through TTNT for four specific reasons:

  1. SCCA’s Time Trials National Tour preaches teamwork, so you’ll have peace of mind knowing others on track are on the same page.
  2. All TTNT run groups have a coach acting as a sort of tour guide, making sure a driver’s ambition doesn’t outrun their adhesion.
  3. At SCCA Time Trials, the competition is your own. It’s you vs. you.
  4. TTNT events offer a better chance at getting clean, traffic-free laps. That’s important when learning a new track.

Ozarks Action Plan

Those entered in the Ozarks TTNT will experience plenty of track time on the winding, challenging circuit some say mimics Germany’s Nürburgring.

There will be two practice periods for all drivers Saturday before the first TrackAttack competition session later that day. Sunday will then have another three TrackAttack sessions, all adding up to nearly two-hours of on-track action over two days before the KONI Podium Celebration takes place Sunday afternoon.

If that’s not enough to keep you busy, the TTNT weekend at OIR will also see an SCCA Regional road race put on by Ark Valley Race Group, so there will be plenty of action to watch during the day. Certainly, don’t forget about the Hagerty Social Dinner Party on Saturday evening, too, where top-notch BBQ is served up with a heaping side of car talk.
