SCCA Time Trials

2025 is going to be better than ever for those craving autocross adrenaline mixed with track time kicks, and you won’t have to wait long to find out what we’re talking about because this brand-new program launches in February in a town known for its thrills – and all that’s missing is you!

The Street Car Shootout – an intense, multi-day, multi-discipline motorsport event – is about to hit the gas in Las Vegas, NV, on Feb. 15-16, 2025. There, competitors will take part in a Saturday and Sunday Shootout at Las Vegas Motor Speedway that includes cone dodging and on-track, high-speed apexes – all of this coming in conjunction with the National Time Trials event that’s scheduled to take place at Las Vegas Motor Speedway that same weekend.

Here's the Lowdown

Saturday morning, Feb. 15, will see Street Car Shootout competitors take four runs on an autocross course setup on the lot located to the east of Las Vegas Motor Speedway. This is the same Solo® pad that hosts not just Las Vegas Region autocross events, but also the Las Vegas ProSolo® events in 2024. It’s a giant lot with tons of space to allow course designers to work their magic. It’s also across the street from Nellis Air Force Base, so drivers are often treated to thundering jets taking off each morning.

Since four autocross runs aren’t enough for an event of this magnitude, Saturday afternoon will see competitors take another four runs, but this time they’ll be facing the morning course in reverse.

Come Sunday, the Street Car Shootout shifts to the road course, with competitors contending in at least four Time Attack sessions, including one practice session.

Top times from each of the three competition elements will then be added to decide the winners.

What Cars Can Compete?

The Street Car Shootout is intended for street cars on 200 treadwear tires, meaning if you’ve been autocrossing or running SCCA Time Trials competition, you likely already have the right rubber for this event.

To keep classing simple, this event will use the existing Max and Tuner category classes found in SCCA Time Trials competition, plus Club Spec rules. As a cheat sheet for autocrossers, Street Touring cars are eligible for Tuner, while cars beyond that, like CAM, Xtreme Street, etc., fit into the Max category.
