Registration for the Time Attack Challenge at Eagles Canyon Opens, With a Discount for Early Birds
At 3 p.m. CT on Feb. 11, registration opens for another Tire Rack SCCA® Time Attack Challenge event, and this time we’re doing it Texas style, which means we’re going big. Following the Las Vegas and Road America Time Attack Challenge events that take place Feb. 15-16 and April 12-13 respectively, it’s time to look even further ahead – and to the south – and sign up for the May 3-4 event at Eagles Canyon Raceway.
Eagles Canyon Raceway is a favorite of those in the Lone Star state, with a 15-turn, 2.7-mile road course that features serious elevation changes and a backstraight designed to let your Time Attack car stretch its legs. Just as importantly, the Decatur, TX, track has ample runoff room, meaning you can let ‘er rip…with a safety buffer.
But this isn’t just a single 2.7-mile ribbon of asphalt. Though that’s technically true, the two-day Time Attack Challenge features the clockwise version on one day (one practice session and three timed sessions) that counts as half of the weekend score, then drivers come back the next day and flip directions! Just as you’ve become comfortable with the track, you’ll attack it from the opposite direction with another practice and three more timed sessions.
The best time in each direction will be combined and determine both your personal best (which you can find a record of here), and the order of finish in class and overall at Eagles Canyon.

The stars at night are big and bright, deep in the heart of Texas, so forget booking a hotel room (actually, if that’s your style, go for it) and camp in the paddock for the weekend. When the track goes cold, there’s an opportunity to get to know your fellow competitors, bench race with the best, and debate which is the tastiest regional beverage until it’s time to get some rest and fire up the cars again in the morning.
