Bet On It: The Upcoming Time Attack Challenge in Vegas Will Bring Excitement in So Many Ways

Vegas is everything it’s cracked up to be.
The last time the Tire Rack SCCA® Time Attack Challenge was at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Quintin Hudson was named Top Novice, Nima Abrihim earned the Spirit of Time Trials, and SCCA’s Manager of National Time Trials John Hunter rescued his missing friend Doug after getting lost at his bachelor party, but only after finding a baby and meeting Mike Tyson’s pet tiger (probably).
If all of that, along with the 12-turn, 2.4-mile outside road course configuration at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, sounds like a good time to you, then the season kickoff of the series on Feb. 21-22, 2026, is a can’t miss.
Why?
Let us count the ways.
Benchmarked Times
This is now the third year that Time Attack Challenge events have been held at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. What does that mean for you? Just that lap times have a true benchmark. You’ll know as you cross the timing loop where you stack up – either against yourself or other drivers.
If the timing beacon records better than 1:44.025 when you cross the stripe, then you know you’ve taken the overall record away from Clayton Yates. Still, we suggest you go significantly quicker – Yates had already knocked a second off of the previous best from 2024 to 2025. Expect him to lower it once more.
That’s the overall record – chances are you don’t have that in your sights. Discover the top times within each class by searching the interactive Time Attack Track Records and Personal Bests archive. Then get out there and have yourself a blast!
The Track is Legit
Look, we get it – you hear “road course at an oval” and think it’s two chicanes and four left turns.
This, though, is the “outside road course,” and it means exactly what it says. This is the course that’s located entirely outside the oval. To be crystal clear: There is no shared surface, there’s no massive grandstand.
The track the Time Attack Challenge will be competing on is 12 challenging turns (featuring one awesome chicane to toss your car through) offering ample runoff room that’s ready for you to push your car to your comfort level.

Beyond the Track
We hear you – sometimes you want more to do. For that, we introduce to you Las Vegas.
If you don’t know what’s in Las Vegas, just know that nearly all of it is awesome, and the Strip is barely 20 minutes south. In and around Las Vegas you’ll find everything from casinos to bars to nightclubs and beyond.
Best part is, Hunter’s face tattoo came from his trip to Bangkok, not Las Vegas – so when it’s time to leave the track on Saturday night, consider going to see what all this “Las Vegas Strip” talk is about.
