SCCA Targa Carolinas Is Coming ‘Round the Mountain in June, and All That’s Missing Is You

With SCCA Targa Tex-ish wrapped, it’s time for you and a friend to plan your next Targa adventure (or your first, for those who couldn’t make Tex-ish) with a four-day jaunt around the Carolinas on June 10-13, 2026. In this automotive adventure that spans North and South Carolina, SCCA Targa Carolinas takes teams on the journey of a lifetime, hitting four incredible motorsports facilities, with drivers enjoying some 580 miles of transit to boot, all while chumming it up with a bundle of other folks just as crazy as yourself.

OK, maybe it’s not the adventure of a lifetime, but it will likely be the most fun you’ll have this year. Is that fun guaranteed? Check out what’s in store, then try to convince yourself that this wouldn’t be the best way for you and a buddy to spend a week in June.

It All Begins…

SCCA Targa Carolinas begins on Wednesday, June 10, at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, NC, where teams will hit the roval with a vengeance.

No. “Vengeance” is the wrong word. Let’s go with “giddy anticipation.”

Yes. Teams will hit the roval with giddy anticipation of the adventure that’s about to begin, because after timed sessions there, they’ll take to the road heading northeast for some 220 miles until they reach NCCAR.

The North Carolina Center for Automotive Research (that’s what NCCAR stands for) in Garysburg, NC, was on the 2025 SCCA Targa schedule, too, and it transformed many into fans of the facility. NCCAR is truly a hidden gem, and on June 11 you’ll find out why for yourself.

Teams then head west (ish) to North Wilkesboro, NC, and the North Wilkesboro Speedway that resides there. Like with Charlotte Motorspeedway, this track wasn’t on the 2025 SCCA Targa schedule, bringing fresh challenges to those who’ve been on SCCA Targas before.

The Targa Carolinas adventure wraps on Saturday, June 13, at Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, SC, which will also be hosting a Tire Rack SCCA Time Attack Challenge the same weekend. Targa teams can opt to conclude their adventure on Saturday, or grab the SCCA Targa-exclusive entry discount to join the Time Attack Challenge fun all weekend long.

Or, condensed to the essentials, this is SCCA Targa Carolinas:

  • June 10: Charlotte Motor Speedway, Concord, NC
  • June 11: NCCAR, Garysburg, NC
  • June 12: North Wilkesboro Speedway, North Wilkesboro, NC
  • June 13: Carolina Motorsports Park, Kershaw, SC

That’s Not All…

Ask anyone who’s undergone an SCCA Targa and they’ll be quick to tell you that the week is more than timed competition at amazing motorsports facilities – it’s #funwithcars in every sense of the hashtag. To wit, expect transit challenges that involve unique locations, other team involvement, or both…or more!

Also expect that everyone will be required to create a team name, and leaning into that team theme will go a long way in scoring extra event points.

(Bribing event officials with treats might also add to your point count.)

Don’t want the stress of the timing beacon during on-track SCCA Targa Carolinas excitement? A new class for 2026 SCCA Targas removes the timing element while simultaneously opening the door to affordable on-track insurance through SCCA partner Hagerty. Enter the Track Night Experience class and run the event for fun, with the option of insurance at a discount.

Here’s everything you need to know about obtaining Hagerty’s insurance during an SCCA Targa.

It’s Not Too Late…

June 10-13, 2026, is right around the corner (or “right around the Appalachian Mountains,” if you want to use a cute expression), meaning if you haven’t entered SCCA Targa Carolinas yet, it’s decision time. Fortunately, there are still spots available, although you’ll want to register soon.

As in, right now.
