Looking Forward: ECR Time Trials National Tour

The third stop on the 2022 Tire Rack SCCA Time Trials National Tour Powered by Hagerty is fast approaching, as an extremely competitive field is headed to Eagles Canyon Raceway (ECR) in Decatur, Texas, April 22-24, 2022.

Gates open at 3 p.m. on Friday, April 22, with competitors able to check in and go through tech from 4-7 p.m. local time. Those reaching the racing circuit after 7 p.m. on Friday will be able to begin the process at 7 a.m. on Saturday before the 8 a.m. driver briefing and 8:30 a.m. pace laps, which get the event officially underway.

Similar to the Time Trials National Tour at Sebring International Raceway, Eagles Canyon Raceway features a mix of long, fast straights and technical corners. Unlike the last stop, ECR has 200 feel of elevation change and wide-open spaces to absorb those rare mistakes while navigating the challenging 15-turn, 2.7-mile circuit.

And about that strong field? Some of the best from the SCCA Time Trials National Tour are on the entry list. Doug Wille and Jackie Mutschler will be at the event in their 2022 Camaro SS, following fast runs at the Sebring event, and Andy Hollis is expected to attend with his McLaren after setting the fastest overall lap at the Time Trials National Tour season opener at Carolina Motorsports Park.

All in all, it’s an unbelievable opportunity to test your track driving skills, both against other drivers and yourself, for an exceptional price.

The event follows the familiar Time Trials National Tour format. Practice sessions on Saturday morning give way to Time Attack 1 in the afternoon, followed by the Hagerty Social Dinner after the final checkered flag of the day. Sunday features a TrackSprint session, running just a portion of the track from a standing start. Time Attack 2 on Sunday afternoon is the final chance to put it all together and lay down the ultimate flyer before the KONI Podium Celebration.

Not ready for timed competition? The weekend also features a Track Event – an untimed lapping program for casual on-track fun.

Bring your friends and family, come for the party and drive quickly and safely at Eagles Canyon Raceway.
