Thunderhill Is Next for Time Trials National Tour + Track Night

A mere 10 minutes west of Willows, CA, sits Thunderhill Raceway Park. It’s a warm, welcoming, downhome venue, but concealed behind those rolling, velvety hills is a racing circuit that’s tricky, challenging, and a favored destination for track enthusiasts.

The Tire Rack Time Trials National Tour Powered by Hagerty (TTNT) will conduct its second event of the year April 14-16, 2023, at Thunderhill. Included in that visit on Saturday, April 15, is a Track Night in America Driven by Tire Rack event, which allows enthusiasts to get on track without timing or competition elements.

Participant slots for the Time Trials National Tour and Track Night in America weekend are limited, and filling up quick. Click the button below to learn more and reserve your space for #funwithcars!

Triumphant Return

It was several years ago, back in 2019, when Thunderhill was last visited by the TTNT crew. The two-mile, 10-turn Thunderhill West layout was used back then, and will be utilized once more this time around.

Take a look at the new TTNT Track Records and Personal Bests webpage for a complete rundown of preexisting Thunderhill times by typing “Thunderhill” into the search box. But below are a few records to keep an eye on over the weekend.

Unlimited 1: Cory Davis, 2005 Subaru Impreza, 79.68
Tuner 1: Tony Brakohiapa, 2016 Ford Mustang, 82.664
Sport 2: Lloyd Martin, 2013 Chevrolet Corvette Z06, 84.335
Max 3: Ron Bauer, 2016 Mazda Miata, 85.65

If you’re unfamiliar with Thunderhill West, it follows the natural, hilly terrain found in the area. That creates a fun, undulating ride to be sure, as this in-car video showcases:

Thunderhill Activity Plans

For TTNT participants, on-track activities open Saturday morning with two 20-minute practice sessions for all TTNT participants, followed by two 15-minute TrackAttack sessions to keep things hopping the rest of the day. Track time for Track Night in America participants, which includes three 20-minute sessions on course, takes place later Saturday before things wrap up with a Hagerty Social Dinner Party for all in attendance.

Sunday will see TTNT participants have five different 15-minute TrackAttack sessions out on course throughout the day before the weekend comes to a close with the KONI Podium Celebration.
